If your dog has serious oral health issues please see your vet.
Your pet may need a veterinary dental. Under anesthesia the animal is sedated allowing the veterinarian to see and reach all surfaces including under the gum. I do not perform veterinary dentistry, preventative health care or treatment, diagnose, or prescribe medicine. You must see a licensed veterinarian if your pet is needing health care.

Cosmetic cleaning has limitations.

I am restricted to cleaning only the surface of the tooth which can be done using items available to the general public.Veterinary services allow under the gumline and deep pocket cleaning which require special tools.

California Department of Consumer Affairs/Veterinarian Medical Board Statement:

Dental Regulations (Practice of veterinary medicine defined) "Nothing in this regulation shall prohibit, however, any person from utilizing cotton swabs, gauze, dental floss, dentifrice, toothbrushes or similar items to clean an animal's teeth."

 

K9 Brite Bite Statement #5 I cannot stress enough the importance of veterinary dental checkups.

Be sure to let your vet know what maintenance you have done at home as well as any cosmetic cleaning that has been done. A clean tooth surface may mislead the vet into assuming all is well.  Be sure they give you a clean bill of health after they thoroughly exam all surfaces of the teeth, gums, tongue and tissue.

 

K9 Brite Bite Statement #6 "I do not clean under the gumline", however, as the gums heal and shrink each visit will expose what was under the gumline at the previous visit and I will remove what I am able to see that was missed at the last appointment.

 

 

Special Note: There is and always will be the on going statement that

"non-anesthesia" cleaning is illegal if you are not a vet or a tech working with a veterinarian. The bottom line is that anyone practicing veterinary medicine without a license is doing it illegally. This website has made it very clear that K9 Brite Bite and Linda Hopkins make no claim to doing veterinary medicine and the services are cosmetic (not under the gumline) rather than veterinary health services.

 

There is already a case in the books that allows teeth cleaning as long as the client has been advised it is not done under the gumline, see attached copy.
